Martin's Dream Walkthrough

After tracking down the stolen documents for Klaus, you'll be sent to meet a man named Standa the Fly. This fella will quickly become an important ally in your quest to finish the Legacy of the Forge DLC, but more importantly, there's a missable trophy in this quest if you don't follow a specific path. Here's how to complete Martin's Dream in KCD2.

Meeting Standa

After helping Klaus get back some stolen guild information, it’s time to meet Standa the Fly. You’ll find him hanging out in the mine between Horschan and Grund. Typically, he’s over by the tents northeast of the mine’s main building. Check out the map above for his exact location.

Tell The Fly that you’ll help him out and walk down the road to meet the marked man named Leech.

Racing Leech

There are multiple ways to handle this situation, but if you don’t want to miss the Racing the Leech trophy, you’ll need to beat the soldier in a horse race. Make a save before talking to him so you don’t lose your money.

This race against Leech isn’t too tough if you have a solid horse. Leech will take off through the fields, but you should not follow him. Instead, follow the road through the first gate and then turn east to go through the second gate. Once you pass it, turn north and continue along the road to get to the fourth gate.

Keep following the road until it splits. At this point, you can ride straight through the field to the finish. If you beat Leech, you’ll earn the Racing the Leech trophy. After besting Leech in the race, he’ll give you back the document The Fly needs.

Getting the Heart of the Clock

Tell The Fly you’ve taken care of his problems and agree to go with him back to the forge. You’ll have to go through some dialogue, but when The Fly is trying to decide where to go, be sure to select “Stay here” so he’ll stick around and help at the forge.

With that sorted, you’ll need to speak with a scribe named Vetter. Follow the map marker to his shop in the middle of Kuttenberg. He’ll tell you about the heart of the clock. There are a few ways to skin this cat. You could steal it from upstairs, but if you don’t want to do that, Vetter will give you these options:

  • Trade him a fantastical item. This is something like the Adorned Axe from The Axe from the Lake main game task
  • Pass one of two checks. One is a hard smithing check, and the other is a very hard speech check
  • Pay him 7,000 groschen

Unfortunately, even passing the skill check only brings the price down, so you’ll have to shell out a pretty penny via groshen or an item. However you deal with Vetter, you’ll need to take the heart back to the forge.

You can talk to Standa for some extra dialogue, but it’s not necessary. Interact with the table in your forge to place the heart and finish the quest. You will automatically start the next quest, Old Plans.
